About
My music leans into acoustic ecology but with a Western Art music core. Piano is my primary instrument, and the harmonic language of Debussy has had a major influence over my style. He was there at my musical awakening and is now totally entwined in my musical make-up.
My core principle as a maker and a listener is acceptance. This means being open to sonic serendipity, accepting a sound or a work as it is, and enjoying the experience of different sound worlds. This also plays into my improvisation as mistakes are simply part of the conversation at the keys.
For a long time I found myself creating music that people didn’t want to listen to. Maybe that’s a rite of passage, but I’ve since found there is no shame in being honest, in joy and simplicity. The age of cynicism is over and there is movement toward embracing this earnestness, becoming comfortable with opening the gate.
